Hello from the beautiful Pacific Northwest! I'm Dan. I hope you are enjoying your visit to www.better-lawn-care.com.
I have created this site to share my knowledge with do-it-yourself homeowners and also with entrepreneurs interested in starting a lawn care business.
A multitude of "interesting ideas" about lawn care and landscaping can be found on the internet by "garden" writers who never get their hands dirty. My hope is this site will help visitors separate the good advice from the bad.
My goal is to build an online source for growing healthy lawns that are better for your family, your property and the environment. A place you can visit to get your questions answered by professional turfgrass specialists.

I've been working lawn maintenance, landscaping and tree care jobs since I graduated from high school. I enjoy working with nature and being outside. You could say it's my second nature...
My passion for landscaping was my inspiration to study turfgrass and horticulture sciences at Virginia Tech (Go Hokies! I'm a big time college football fan). I earned a Bachelor of Science in Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences and a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Horticulture. My education has not stopped at graduation - I continue to attend lawn, landscape and tree care classes and seminars. I'm also very passionate about trees and the proper care of trees and have earned ISA Certified Arborist credentials.
What is an ISA Certified Arborist? The ISA Certified Arborist credential
identifies professional arborists who are trained and knowledgeable in all aspects of arboriculture (professional tree care industry)and who have passed an extensive examination covering all facets of aboriculture. ISA Certified Arborists have met all requirements to be eligible for the exam, which includes three or more years of full-time practical work experience in arboriculture and/or a degree in the field of arboriculture, horticulture, landscape architecture, or forestry from a regionally accredited educational institute. ISA Certified Arborists must work within a code of ethics and continue their education to maintain certification. This certification is accredited by the American National Standards Institute.
